Starting today, Afro Deli will provide complimentary meals to federal government employees working without pay or laid off as a result of the ongoing government shutdown. We appreciate all of the hard work government employees and contractors in our community provide to our country and we are happy to offer a small token of our appreciation during this difficult time.
“It’s unfair what our community members are going through right now,” said Afro Deli owner Kahin Abdirahman, “We want them to know that we stand with them and will support them.”
Afro Deli will serve any adult with a federal government ID a complimentary entree from 11am to 3pm every day until the shutdown ends. “We’re not political. We just want to do our part in supporting community members that support us every day. It’s about family and our village.” said Moussa Douleh, executive chef of Afro Deli.
